USN Kolaka Students Join Humanitarian Program to Against Illiteracy in Malaysia

Kolaka – Four students from Universitas Sembilanbelas November (USN) Kolaka are making a difference through the "Kampus Mengajar" humanitarian program in Malaysia. This initiative, a collaboration between INTI International University Malaysia and several top universities in Indonesia, including USN Kolaka, focuses on eradicating illiteracy and providing education for Indonesian children of elementary and pre-school age in Sanggar Bimbingan (SB).

Sanggar Bimbingan serves as an informal learning center designed for children of Indonesian migrant workers born in Malaysia. The USN Kolaka students are stationed in several SB locations, including Ladang Kosma (a palm oil plantation), Bahau, and Selangor, where they are actively engaged in teaching and community development activities.

Ray Suryadi, an English Education lecturer at USN Kolaka who also accompanies the students, emphasized the importance of this program. “This initiative is crucial not only for the children who are gaining access to education but also for our students, who are gaining invaluable experience in teaching and cross-cultural communication,” he stated.

This program not only aims to against illiteracy but also to bridge the educational gap faced by the children of migrant workers. It represents a meaningful collaboration between nations and showcases the commitment of USN Kolaka to contribute positively to global education.

As these students continue their mission in Malaysia, they are not only educators but also ambassadors of hope and change, inspiring others to support educational equality and humanitarian causes.
